About me

I am a mathematician interested in the intersection of higher category theory and operator algebra (which I guess you could call 'higher operator algebra'); the motivation for this is to develop and understand quantum theory, which is the basis of modern physics. Historically, my work has focused on quantum information theory - looking at quantum theory through the lens of applications to communication, computation, cryptography, etc. - but I'm very interested in quantum field theory and quantum foundations, and I'm moving in that direction now. My work intersects a lot with operator algebraic quantum group theory, since you can think of an operator algebraic quantum group as a categorification of a von Neumann algebra (this is known as Tannaka-Krein-Woronowicz duality). I've also done some more 'traditional' work on quantum information theory and know that field pretty well.

I am currently affiliated to the Department of Computer Science and Technology, University of Cambridge. To contact me, please get in touch at the email above.
